Project Description

The XEMEX IABP Balloon Plus is a balloon catheter set, used for balloon pumping in the aorta to assist heart function in cardiogenic shock or low cardiac output syndrome cases. It consists of a catheter tray, an introducer tray, a driving tube for a Datascope console and a driving tube for an ARROW console. Comprised of the distal end, a balloon part, an outer tube and a bifurcation, the IAB catheter has a coaxial double-lumen structure with an inner tube within the catheter. The central lumen inside the inner tube is used for insertion of a guide wire during catheter insertion as well as for blood pressure monitoring at the opening of the distal end during driving, connected with a blood pressure transducer set via a blood pressure monitoring line. Electric signals transduced by the blood pressure transducer are sent to a driving console via a special cable. The gas lumen between the inner and outer tubes is connected with the balloon at the distal end and the gas line at the bifurcation and ultimately with a driving console via a driving tube. There are six choices, with a balloon capacity of 8 Fr (30 mL, 35 mL, 40 mL) and 7 Fr (25 mL, 30 mL, 35 mL).

The company has developed a new concept balloon, named “Short Balloon” with a capacity of 8 Fr, 35 mL. The Balloon length is 162 mm and its diameter is 17.1 mm. The main advantages of this balloon are:

1. Better Placement

2. Avoid Complication:

  • Migration of catheter
  • Renal arterial occlusion
  • Balloon leak

3. High assist performance

ZEON MEDICAL launched operations on January 1, 1990 as an affiliated company of ZEON Corporation, a polymer chemistry manufacturer. ZEON Corporation has continued to develop medical devices utilizing innovative materials, particularly biomaterials, produced by combining the company’s exclusive technologies. The ventricular artificial heart, a typical medical device resulting from these efforts, was the first such product in the world to obtain approval for manufacture from the former Ministry of Health and Welfare (currently the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) in January 1990. ZEON MEDICAL INC. began operations in January of the same year to sell these products. In July 1996, the export, research and development and manufacturing operations of ZEON CORPORATION were transferred to ZEON MEDICAL, and ZEON MEDICAL completed the establishment of an integrated system as a highly respected and integrated medical device manufacturer. Since then, the Company has been committed to expanding this field of business.
